In peace on the Rellseck

Panorama without drama

Easy half day tour

In winter, the Rellseck is a quiet place of jewelry.

Already the approach is an experience: If you like winding mountain roads, you will love it. And even as you drive, wonderful views of the striking Zimba peak and Schruns below await you. We, who live here, also enjoy this panorama every time again.

When we park the car at the church in Bartholomaeberg, we both feel calm inside. If you like gothic architecture, definitely take a look at the church. It is beautiful.

The original Montafon

The path then leads along old stables and houses with their Rhaeto-Romanic names. If you look closely here, you risk being captivated by the charm of the original Montafon.

On the steep gravel road it then becomes really strenuous. Both of us automatically fall into a meditative, steady stride here. That helps. In addition, wooden benches invite us to rest here again and again. Sit down, let your breath come to rest, gaze into the valley … at the latest now we leave everyday life far behind us. I bet you will feel the same.

Rellseck Inn

The view is simply ingenious.

Gigantic panoramic view

At the top of the Rellseck we enjoy the gigantic panoramic view, over Bludenz, the Walgau and Feldkirch to the distant Swiss mountains. The spot up here is for us one of the most picturesque places in Montafon: a rustic tavern, some Montafon houses and the charming chapel with the shingle roof typical for the area.

In summer you have the choice here: house sausages and Kaiserschmarren in the usually very busy guesthouse? Or rather peace and quiet on one of the hills with the snack you brought with you? We usually prefer the latter. Although … the Kaiserschmarren in the guesthouse is delicious.

Good tour, good sleep

Down we hike mostly on the winding road, where only the one or other cow observes us. In Bartholomäberg we often stop by at the mountain shop, where we can buy first-class products from the region. And fine handmade soaps.

After such a small, fine hike with a few meters of altitude, we sleep especially well at night. Bet you will too…
